"Despite doubling our port capacity over the past decade, India still needs more capacity. By 2047, we expect port capacity to double twice over the next two decades to support GDP growth and international trade," Goyal said, according to the ANI report.

In a separate interview during the same Rotterdam visit, Goyal said the Port of Rotterdam already has an agreement with Kandla port in India to introduce newer technologies, and that several other Indian ports could establish similar partnerships. He said a customs agreement was already in place and that Indian customs authorities and the Port of Rotterdam were working on digitisation to speed up cargo evacuation and reduce ship turnaround time.
