After refunds of Rs 27,934 crore — up 6.5% from Rs 26,225 crore a year earlier — net GST revenue came to Rs 2,03,356 crore, a rise of 25.6% over the Rs 1,61,900 crore collected in October 2025.
Where the money came from
Domestic collections rose 15.8% to Rs 1,59,044 crore, from Rs 1,37,328 crore a year ago. Within that, Central GST (CGST) brought in Rs 42,935 crore, State GST (SGST) Rs 51,340 crore and domestic Integrated GST (IGST) Rs 64,769 crore.
The sharpest growth came from imports. IGST collected on imported goods jumped 42.2% to Rs 72,246 crore, from Rs 50,796 crore in October 2025 — nearly a third of the month's total collection.

Fourth month above Rs 2 lakh crore
October was the fourth month of this financial year in which gross GST collections crossed Rs 2 lakh crore, after April, July and September. April still holds the year's peak, with gross collections of Rs 2.42 lakh crore. Reports described October's 22.9% jump as the fastest growth in more than four years.
For the first seven months of 2026-27 (April to October), gross GST collections reached Rs 14,77,569 crore — yaani about Rs 14.78 lakh crore — up 13.2% from Rs 13,05,213 crore in the same period last year. Net collections for the seven months rose 12.6% to Rs 12.69 lakh crore.
Rs 2,31,290 crore means Rs 2.31 lakh crore of tax collected in a single month. Of every Rs 100 collected in October, roughly Rs 31 came from taxes on imported goods alone.
The October numbers are provisional and will be revised in the Finance Ministry's detailed release. Economists will watch whether the import surge holds in November, since import IGST is paid at the port before goods enter domestic trade.
