Tanuja Ranjan was found dead in her bedroom on May 8. According to police, her hands had been tied, the house had been ransacked, and about 225 grams of gold jewellery and other valuables were missing. Police allege the gang entered the house with the help of the domestic worker and smothered the victim before escaping with the valuables — the allegations are yet to be tested in court.

Police said all four are natives of Nepal who had been working in different locations in India.

Police had earlier, on May 22, arrested the prime accused Sunil Bahadur Aauji alias Sunil Pariyar and an alleged receiver of stolen property, Dilip Bahadur Mijar alias Sonar, and recovered 26 grams of the stolen property, the Commissioner said. Two other accused remain absconding and teams are continuing efforts to trace them, according to the IANS report.

The SIT investigation ran for more than five months across several states and along the India-Nepal border before Monday's arrests, police said.
