Revenue in the second quarter ended September 30, 2026 rose 25% to ₹4,202 crore (yaani about ₹42.02 billion), compared with ₹3,355 crore a year earlier, and was almost 5% higher than the preceding quarter, Scindia said while chairing the department's second-quarter review in New Delhi.
Parcels lead the growth
The growth was led by the parcel business, which surged 71% year on year. Postal Life Insurance (PLI) and Rural Postal Life Insurance grew 44%, and international business rose 38%, according to the figures shared by the minister and also reported by Upstox.

For the first half of FY 2026-27 (April–September), revenue grew almost 24% to about ₹8,213 crore, from roughly ₹6,500 crore in the same period last year, Scindia said.
Efficiency and circle performance
Scindia said cost efficiency had also improved: the department's expenditure coverage ratio, excluding pension, rose to 62% in the second quarter from 54% a year earlier. He said Bihar, West Bengal and North East circles had performed across the board and exceeded expectations, and that 19 of the 23 postal circles achieved more than 80% of their second-quarter targets.
The minister's announcement was made at a quarterly business review meeting with all 23 postal circles to assess performance, Upstox reported.
