Passengers have been advised to check their flight status on the airline's official website before proceeding to the airport. The latest extension follows an earlier suspension of the same four Saudi routes until October 24.
Why the flights were suspended
The cancellations come amid heightened security concerns following an attack at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam on Wednesday evening, in which two people, including an Indian national, were killed and eight others injured, according to Saudi authorities. The Indian Embassy in Riyadh said on Thursday that one Indian national was among those killed, while two other Indian nationals sustained injuries, and that it was ascertaining further details and contacting the affected families.
Akasa Air has also extended the suspension of all flights to and from Riyadh and Jeddah until October 27, while Air India and Air India Express had earlier suspended services to Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam until October 24, according to reports.
