Harbour phase first, sea phase next

During the harbour phase, personnel of both navies will take part in professional interactions, cross-deck visits, cross-training activities and sporting events, aimed at exchanging operational experience and best practices. The Commanding Officer of INS Sahyadri will also call on senior RoKN officials.

The harbour phase will be followed by coordinated maritime activities at sea involving INS Sahyadri and the Korean warship ROKS Munmu the Great, giving the two crews an opportunity to strengthen operational coordination and interoperability.

The Navy said the exercise underscores the shared commitment of India and the Republic of Korea to strengthening maritime cooperation and contributing to peace, stability and security in the Indo-Pacific, and reflects the Indian Navy's continued effort to build partnerships with friendly foreign navies.

The two navies held the maiden edition of this bilateral exercise in October 2025, when INS Sahyadri had made a port call at Busan and trained at sea with ROKS Gyeongnam, according to the Defence Ministry release issued at the time.
