Kishan batted at No. 5 instead of his usual No. 3 spot in the opener and scored one run. Batting coach Sitanshu Kotak said the batting order was changed because of the groin strain, and that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is a strong contender to replace Kishan if needed.
The second T20I will be played at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Saturday, October 24. India lead the five-match series 1-0 after chasing 226 in the opener — their highest successful chase in men's T20I cricket — winning by four wickets.
