In Samba, the BSF conducted the anti-tunnelling exercise in the forward area along the International Border at Border Outpost Lalfamkima in the Ramgarh sector. Officials said the exercise was aimed at detecting any possible cross-border tunnels that could be used for infiltration or for smuggling arms, ammunition and other contraband, and that no such structure was detected.
Mock drills were also held at Jammu Railway Station and at a CRPF camp in the Banihal area of Ramban district to test inter-agency coordination and emergency preparedness. The Railway Protection Force, fire and emergency services, medical staff and a bomb disposal squad took part at the station, while the Banihal drill, held from 11 am to 12:20 pm, involved the Rashtriya Rifles, CRPF, RPF, GRP, the State Disaster Response Force, police, fire services and the block medical officer.
Officials described the day's activities as part of a heightened security vigil and an assessment of readiness in the Jammu region.
