Around 1,400 participants from Tamil Nadu will be divided into seven groups of approximately 200 members each for cultural, academic and spiritual engagements. The programme is organised by the Department of Higher Education with IIT Madras, Banaras Hindu University, the Central Institute of Classical Tamil and the Uttar Pradesh government.
The theme of this edition is 'Thirukkural Payilvom – Thirukkural Abhyas Karen', focused on introducing the teachings of the classical Tamil text Thirukkural to young people and learners across the country. The Ministry said the programme celebrates India's cultural oneness, linguistic diversity and shared civilisational inheritance in the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.
Joshi said that since ancient times the country has had a strong cultural unity, noting that many people visited both Kashi and Rameswaram as part of their religious traditions — reflecting the deep-rooted bonds between the northern and southern parts of India. Educational outreach will also be carried out in higher education institutions to familiarise students with the programme's objectives.
