Mumbai: India's domestic stock markets remain closed on Tuesday, October 20, on account of Dussehra (Vijayadashami), ANI reported. Both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) have included Dussehra in their 2026 trading holiday calendars.
Trading in the equity, equity derivatives, currency and securities lending and borrowing (SLB) segments remains suspended for the day. Regular trading on both exchanges resumes on Wednesday, October 21. On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), trading remains suspended during the morning session and resumes in the evening session.
The holiday follows Monday's weak session on Dalal Street, when the Sensex fell 876.37 points (1.17 per cent) to 73,852.90 and the Nifty 50 fell 257.20 points (1.11 per cent) to 22,888.95 amid weakness in private bank stocks, earnings that fell short of expectations and rising crude prices, with Brent crude at USD 109.66 per barrel — read Awaaz Punjab's market-close report here
