Addressing the bi-weekly media briefing in New Delhi, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India is deeply concerned about the ongoing conflict. "So far we have lost 22 Indian nationals in the conflict, which includes 14 seafarers, and on our part we remain in close touch with the community there so that we can do our best for their safety and well-being," Jaiswal said, adding that three Indians had lost their lives in Saudi Arabia so far.
Embassy advisories and help on the ground
On October 16, India had advised its nationals in Saudi Arabia to take due precautions, to proceed to the nearest safe place inside a building or an interior room away from windows in case of an aerial attack, and to refrain from filming, publishing or sharing information, photos and videos regarding the ongoing events. The Indian Embassy said its officials continue to visit hospitals where Indian nationals are undergoing treatment, are in constant touch with their families and are providing necessary assistance.

The Consulate General of India in Jeddah has also issued a travel advisory outlining enhanced flight options to facilitate air travel for Indian nationals, particularly Umrah pilgrims affected by recent flight disruptions in Saudi Arabia, according to ANI. Indian diplomatic missions across West Asia continue to monitor developments closely, the MEA said.
Yaani in simple words: of every 22 Indians who have died in this war, 14 were sailors working on ships — which is why the government is stressing safety advice for Indians working and travelling in the Gulf region.
