Agarwal's score broke the previous world record of 356, set by Sweden's Anna Benson at a World Cup in Novi Sad in July this year, and also bettered the Asian record of 355.7 set by South Korea's Lee Yun-ri last month. China's Zhang Cuiping took silver with 353.7, while South Korea's Kim Miyoung won bronze with 344.4.
The 38-year-old had qualified for the final in sixth place with 566-17x, while compatriot Avani Lekhara topped qualification with 580-24x but finished fourth in the final with 333.2, narrowly missing the podium.
This was Agarwal's second gold of the Games. She had earlier won the women's 10m air rifle standing SH1 title with a Games-record 250.0, where Lekhara took silver with 249.6. Born in Sikar, Rajasthan and now based in Jaipur, Agarwal contracted polio at nine months old and uses a wheelchair.
357.5 — Mona Agarwal's winning score, breaking Anna Benson's world record of 356 and the Asian record of 355.7.
