India's leading bourses, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE, on Monday announced the timings for this year's Diwali Muhurat trading session, which will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2026, IANS reported. Normal trading in the special session will run from 2:20 PM to 3:30 PM IST, according to circulars issued by the exchanges on October 19. The session marks Diwali Laxmi Pujan and the start of the new Hindu Samvat year.

According to the exchange schedule reported by IANS and Upstox, a block deal session will run from 1:50 PM to 2:05 PM, followed by the pre-open order entry period from 2:05 PM to 2:15 PM, order matching and trade confirmation until 2:17 PM, and a pre-open buffer until 2:20 PM. Trading in Closing Auction Session (CAS) securities will close at 3:15 PM, while non-CAS securities trade until 3:30 PM.

A special pre-open session for IPOs and relisted securities will run from 2:05 PM to 2:50 PM, with those stocks trading in the normal market from 3:05 PM to 3:30 PM. The call auction for illiquid securities will be held from 2:25 PM to 3:10 PM, the post-close session from 3:50 PM to 4:00 PM, and the trade modification cut-off is 4:15 PM.

The NSE clarified that all trades executed during the Muhurat session will carry settlement obligations, like a regular trading day. This year the special session falls in the afternoon instead of the usual evening slot.
