Mumbai: Two people were killed and four others injured after a fire broke out on Tuesday evening, October 20, at a scrap godown in the Saki Naka area of Andheri East in Mumbai, Nation Press reported. One of the injured was reported to be in a critical condition with 80 per cent burns. The Mumbai Fire Brigade classified and responded to the blaze at the godown, which stored highly combustible scrap material, the report said.
IANS, in a separate dispatch from Mumbai dated October 21, also reported that two people were killed in the fire at the scrap godown in Andheri, confirming the death toll given by Nation Press.
The initial reports did not name those who died or state the cause of the fire. Scrap godowns, which typically store metal, plastic, rubber and other discarded material in dense industrial pockets, are considered high-risk premises for fires, and Tuesday's blaze is the latest in a series of godown and industrial fires reported from Mumbai's suburbs. Further details from the fire brigade and police were awaited. (Sources: Nation Press, October 21, 2026; IANS, via hi INDiA, October 21, 2026)
