Captain Abbas Afridi led the charge, smashing five sixes in the very first over of the chase, bowled by India captain Krunal Pandya, on his way to 35 off eight balls. India, playing their opening match of the six-a-side tournament after Pakistan won the toss and chose to field, were carried by Shashank Singh, whose 40 off 11 balls, with five sixes and two fours, propped up the innings before he was bowled by Ahmed Daniyal in the final over. His knock went in vain.

The result tightened Group C of the 12-team tournament, which runs from October 30 to November 1 at the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok. Defending champions Pakistan had lost their morning match to the UAE by one wicket, so a second defeat would have ended their campaign. India will face the UAE on Saturday, October 31, with a victory potentially leaving all three teams level on points, IANS reported.
