India allrounder Prema Rawat has registered the fastest fifty in women's T20 cricket, scoring an unbeaten half-century off 14 balls for Uttarakhand against Hyderabad in the Senior Women's T20 Trophy at the MCA Stadium, Gahunje, Pune, on Monday, ESPNcricinfo reported. Batting at No. 4, the 24-year-old struck six fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 357.14.

Rawat walked in during the 18th over and hit three consecutive boundaries off medium pacer Sakshi Rao, then blasted 18 runs off offspinner Vanka Pooja's over, before taking on Kunchala Niteesha for 6, 4, 4, 6 off the last four balls of the innings to bring up the record fifty. Her partner Raghvi Bist made an unbeaten 72 off 50 balls as Uttarakhand posted 187 for 2, Wisden reported.

The previous mark of 15 balls was held jointly by England's Marie Kelly (for Warwickshire in 2022), Laura Harris (for Otago in 2025 and Surrey in 2026) and Pakistan captain Fatima Sana (in 2026), ESPNcricinfo noted. Sana's 15-ball effort, made against Zimbabwe in Karachi in May, remains the fastest fifty in women's T20 Internationals — Rawat's record covers women's T20s across domestic and international cricket, The Bridge reported.

Rawat's day was not only about batting. In Hyderabad's chase she removed opener G Kavyasree and N Kranthi Reddy to finish with 2 for 12, completing an all-round performance in the 89-run win. BCCI Domestic shared glimpses of the innings on Tuesday, calling it the fastest fifty in women's T20 cricket.
A rising India career
Rawat, a leg-spinner, made her India debut in June this year and has taken seven wickets in seven T20Is so far, including 3 for 9 against Pakistan in an Asia Cup group-stage match, ESPNcricinfo reported. She was part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru's title-winning WPL squads in 2025 and 2026, taking three wickets in six games in the tournament, and has been retained by the franchise ahead of the 2027 season.
