Chennai: Tamil Nadu captain R Sai Kishore claimed a hat-trick and a ten-wicket match haul as Tamil Nadu thrashed Uttarakhand by an innings and 66 runs in their Ranji Trophy 2026-27 Elite Group D match at the M A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday, October 20.

The left-arm spinner took four wickets in the first innings and 6 for 34 in the second, completing his hat-trick in the 43rd over by dismissing Lakshya Raichandani, Saurabh Rawat and Aditya Rawat off successive deliveries. Fellow left-arm spinner S Ajith Ram took the remaining four second-innings wickets as Uttarakhand, following on, were bowled out for 113 after scoring 134 in their first innings.

Tamil Nadu's win was set up by their first-innings 313, built on Pradosh Ranjan Paul's 136 and Baba Indrajith's 77 — the pair added 171 runs for the third wicket. Mayank Mishra took five wickets for Uttarakhand.

Kishore's hat-trick made him the tenth Tamil Nadu bowler to take a first-class hat-trick. After the match, he credited advice he received from M S Dhoni during his Chennai Super Kings stint — on bowling from different angles — for his improvement. "I think that is something that I learned during my stint with CSK. MS Dhoni was heavy on that. When bowling from different angles, my ball behaves differently and that is reaping rewards," Kishore said, as quoted by The Indian Express.
