Consolidated revenue from operations grew 19.8 per cent year-on-year to Rs 31,997.55 crore, against Rs 26,704.17 crore a year earlier. On a standalone basis, profit after tax was Rs 1,774 crore, against Rs 427 crore in Q2 FY26, while standalone EBITDA was Rs 4,561 crore, against Rs 2,829 crore a year earlier, Kalkine reported from the company's press release.

SAIL said crude steel production for the quarter was 4.85 million tonnes and sales volume grew 5 per cent over the corresponding period last year to 5.16 million tonnes. Profit before tax after exceptional items was Rs 2,356 crore on a standalone basis, against Rs 553 crore a year earlier, and basic earnings per share rose to Rs 4.29 from Rs 1.03, according to the results summary.
The company attributed the performance to higher sales volume, higher net sales realisation and cost-optimisation measures. For the first half of FY27, standalone profit after tax reached Rs 3,410 crore, and the company said its debt had fallen to Rs 20,583 crore, with a debt-to-equity ratio of 0.52.
Why it matters
SAIL is one of India's largest state-owned steelmakers, so a four-fold profit jump is a closely watched signal for domestic steel demand from infrastructure and construction. The results were approved by the company's board at its meeting on October 27, 2026.
