New Delhi — The Rouse Avenue Court on Monday remanded Harish Tanwar, a deputy director in the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO), to judicial custody till October 28 after three days of CBI interrogation, ANI reported. Duty Special Judge (CBI) Satyabrat Panda passed the order after Tanwar was produced before the court.
Tanwar was arrested from Chennai on October 14 and brought to Delhi on transit remand; he was produced before the Rouse Avenue Court on October 16 and sent to three days of CBI custody.
The CBI alleges — and this remains an allegation, not proven in court — that Tanwar demanded a bribe of Rs 10 crore from the complainant; according to the CBI's earlier submissions reported by ANI, complainant Gopal Shivram Delvi lodged the complaint on October 12, 2026. Two other accused, Bharat Sharma and Aryan Sharma, are already in judicial custody till October 28, ANI reported.
The investigating officer sought judicial custody on the ground that the investigation is underway, and the CBI has said Tanwar needs to be confronted with the co-accused and material collected during the investigation. Independent reporting by Inventiva on the arrests described the case as a bribery case linked to an ongoing SFIO investigation.
