According to the police spokesperson, the module was uncovered during a focused investigation into suspected financial networks linked to terrorist activities. Investigators analysed suspicious online financial transactions carried out through various payment platforms and traced money trails across multiple layers, which revealed a wider network of individuals allegedly involved in terror financing with links to terrorists and their associates in different jails.
"So far, 10 terrorist associates have been arrested in connection with the case. Accordingly, FIR No. 231/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Shopian," the spokesperson said. News agency PTI also reported the arrests of ten overground workers in Shopian district in the terror-financing module case.

Police said the initial investigation suggests the accused were allegedly collecting and raising funds from the general public and channelising the money through established financial links to facilitate the activities of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and The Resistance Front (TRF). The funds were also allegedly used to provide logistical support, including smartphones, police said. These are police allegations at this stage; the case is under investigation.
Further investigation is under way to ascertain the wider network, establish additional financial linkages and identify other individuals involved in the module, and more arrests are expected, the spokesperson said. Police said the operation was part of continuing efforts, in coordination with other security agencies, to dismantle terror-support networks and disrupt unlawful financial channels in the Union Territory.
