The Centre's Special Swachhata Campaign 6.0 has covered 8,34,509 cleanliness sites — yaani over 8.34 lakh sites — and earned Rs 491.28 crore through scrap disposal as of October 19, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on Monday while reviewing the campaign in New Delhi.
The sites covered are 3.03 times the 2,75,432 covered in the corresponding period of Special Campaign 5.0 in 2025, while scrap revenue rose 1.61 times from Rs 304.72 crore, and 116 lakh square feet of space has been freed, compared with 113.12 lakh square feet last year.
Among major contributors, the Ministry of Railways generated Rs 425.06 crore from scrap disposal and the Department of School Education and Literacy reported 4,15,353 campaign sites.
Singh said what began with clearing physical files has expanded to electronic files, e-waste management and disposal of obsolete material, and urged secretaries to extend the drive — which runs from October 2 to October 31 — to field offices across the country with dedicated one-day cleanliness drives.
