A 39-year-old man from North Paravur was arrested in Kochi's Elamakkara on Friday after he allegedly rammed his car into a police motorcycle while trying to escape a drug interception, injuring two officers, police said. The accused, Preethish P. Prakash, has been booked for attempted murder, and police said 32 grams of a substance suspected to be MDMA was recovered from his vehicle. An arrest is not a finding of guilt.

The interception was carried out by a joint team of the District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF) and Elamakkara police. Officials said the team had been tracking the car since it was spotted near Ernakulam South railway station, acting on a tip-off about a suspected drug shipment, and moved to stop and search it near Elamakkara police station.
Alleged ramming and arrest
Police said the driver refused to comply with the stop instruction, accelerated and struck the police motorcycle, injuring the two officers on it, and continued trying to flee before the pursuing team apprehended him. The Hindu also reported that the man was held with suspected MDMA after ramming police personnel while trying to escape the raid, and that he was booked for attempted murder.
