Three Indian nationals lost their lives in the Bochum fire. In a post on X on October 14, the Indian Embassy said three Indian nationals — two women and one man — had tragically lost their lives in a fire incident in Bochum, North Rhine-Westphalia, and that all three were studying in Germany.
Suspect questioned in Germany
Police and prosecutors said on October 14 that extensive investigations, including an examination by a fire expert, had ruled out a technical defect as the cause of the blaze, leading to suspicion against a 41-year-old resident. The suspect has been questioned by investigators from the homicide commission, and further inquiries are continuing under the direction of the Bochum prosecutor's office. The suspicion against the resident remains an allegation under investigation and has not been proved.
The return of the bodies has enabled the families to bring their loved ones home for the final rites.
