A school peon at Sai Vidya Mandir, a private school in Ludhiana, has been arrested for allegedly molesting a 16-year-old student inside a teacher's office — an incident police say was captured on the school's CCTV cameras. Tibba police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Section 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to the complaint filed by the girl's mother, the incident took place on 13 October 2026. The student had been sent by her class teacher to the teacher's office to fetch a book. The accused — identified in reports as Prince Pal, who works as a peon at the school — allegedly entered the empty office and at first appeared to help her search for the book. He then allegedly grabbed her, pinned her against a wall, forcibly kissed her and touched her inappropriately, before she managed to get away.
The family has additionally alleged that the accused recorded a video of the incident and later showed CCTV footage to his friends. Police have not confirmed this claim; it remains part of the investigation. Police say officers reviewed the school's CCTV footage while registering the case.
The matter came to the police's attention on 16 October 2026, after the mother filed her complaint. Sub-Inspector Jaspreet Singh of Tibba police station said police learned of the incident on 16 October, reviewed the CCTV footage, registered an FIR, arrested the accused the same day and produced him before a court, which sent him to judicial custody. ASI Ravinder Kumar is the investigating officer in the case.
The case has raised serious questions about staff vetting, control over who can access CCTV footage, and student safety inside school premises. The charges against the accused are allegations at this stage and are yet to be proven in court.
