The accident took place on the flyover connecting Nutan Vasahat to the Shani Mandir area. The container truck was travelling from Ambad Chaufuli towards Nutan Vasahat when it fell off the flyover and landed on Ekta Dhaba below.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Anant Kulkarni said police personnel reached the spot immediately after receiving information about the accident and began a rescue operation. PSI Shewale, who was on patrol, was among the first to reach and carry out the rescue.

The two occupants of the truck were found alive and conscious at the time of the rescue, but they succumbed to their injuries after being brought to hospital, Kulkarni said. He said the deceased were suspected to be the driver and the cleaner of the container truck, and that their identities had not yet been confirmed.
No one was inside the dhaba at the time, which prevented further casualties. Kulkarni said the eatery had closed by 11 pm and a police patrol had ensured it was shut. Based on the truck's registration number, police said it is a Haryana-registered vehicle and that they had contacted its owner, who is based in Hisar, once but had not been able to reconnect with him. The damaged truck remained at the spot, police said.
