Juhu police on Saturday arrested Juhi Mehta, the chief operating officer of a digital media company, for allegedly driving her BMW towards a traffic constable after a collision in Mumbai's Vile Parle West on Friday evening, and she was released on bail later the same day, Hindustan Times reported. The arrest follows the incident Awaaz Punjab reported on October 31, when a woman allegedly rammed vehicles in Juhu and drove at traffic police, after which a rash-driving case was registered and CCTV footage was being examined.

According to the FIR, constable Prashant Hake, 36, attached to the Santacruz traffic division, was on duty at Mahabharti Junction, opposite Pratiksha bungalow, when he noticed a crowd gathering between 8.15 pm and 8.30 pm on Friday. He found that a BMW driven by Mehta and a hatchback had collided, leaving both vehicles obstructing traffic. Other reports of the Friday incident said the BMW had also struck a scooter and a motorcycle while allegedly trying to leave the scene, and that a video of the confrontation went viral on X.

Alleged threat to 'frame' the constable

The FIR states that when Hake stood in front of the BMW and repeated his instruction to move the car, Mehta allegedly argued with him and threatened to frame him in a case involving a crime against women, and allegedly drove the car towards him. Hake approached Juhu police station on Saturday and lodged a complaint, and police registered an FIR under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita provisions relating to criminal intimidation, acts endangering life or personal safety, and using criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging his duty. These are police allegations and have not been tested in court.

Police traced Mehta using the BMW's registration number and arrested her on Saturday. She was released on bail later that day. Hindustan Times reported that Mehta could not be reached for comment. Police had earlier said they were studying CCTV footage from the junction as part of the investigation, and further legal proceedings in the case are awaited.
