Mumbai (Juhu): A woman driving a BMW allegedly rammed into multiple vehicles and drove towards traffic police officers who tried to stop her near the Sangeet Bharati Chowk signal in Juhu at around 8:30 pm on Friday, police said on Saturday. According to police, she first hit a stationary car and, while trying to speed away, hit a scooter, a motorcycle and another car.

A traffic policeman who witnessed the collision stepped in front of the car to stop her, the Times of India reported. The woman allegedly continued driving despite the officer banging on the vehicle and bystanders knocking on the windows and warning her that she was putting the officer's life at risk. The car stopped only after a bystander opened one of its rear doors, according to the report. A video of the incident has circulated widely on social media.

Police said that when an officer intervened and asked her to stop filming the scene, the woman took out her mobile phone and began filming the officers, leading to an altercation, PTI reported. The officer later directed her to move the car to the side of the road to clear the traffic jam that had built up at the signal.
Juhu police said they have identified the woman and are examining CCTV footage from the area. A case in connection with the accident and rash driving has been registered on the complaint of the owner of one of the damaged vehicles, police said, adding that further investigation is underway. No injuries were reported in the incident in either account.
The allegations have not been proved, and the woman has not been named by police in the reports. What happens next depends on the CCTV examination and the statements recorded as part of the Juhu police investigation.
