Mumbai, Oct 28: Maharashtra has added an artificial intelligence layer to its government machinery. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday, October 28, launched MahaINDUS, a secure AI platform built for administrative work, alongside a fresh set of citizen services on the state's MahaDBT 2.0, Aaple Sarkar 2.0 and MAITRI portals, according to an official release.

The launches came during a review meeting of the MahaSarathi portal at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai. Fisheries Minister Nitesh Rane, Chief Secretary Rajesh Agrawal, Right to Public Services Commission Chief Commissioner Manu Kumar Srivastava and Virendra Singh, Secretary of the state's Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence Department, were among those present, according to the official release.

MahaINDUS is designed to help officials with day-to-day desk work — drafting, translation, summarisation and data analysis in 22 Indian languages, including Marathi. The state says the platform has been built so that government data stays within the country and is not used to train AI models, a safeguard as departments begin to feed official files into AI tools.
