The DGP visited Moga on Monday, reviewed the situation and met the victims' family members, assuring them that the case was being investigated from all angles and that those responsible would not be spared, Punjabenews reported. Moga SSP Sartaj Singh Chahal had earlier said the complainant's side had provided names of some individuals to the police, and that investigators were recording statements and examining CCTV footage from around the scene, with a forensic team collecting evidence.

In the original attack on Sunday night, unidentified assailants travelling in a black Scorpio SUV allegedly opened fire on a group sitting outside a shop in Angadpura. The two men who died were identified in earlier reports as Gagan Jindal, 30, and Sahil Jindal, 40. Police have not yet established the motive; preliminary information had suggested a possible old enmity, but that has not been confirmed.

The arrests were also reported independently by Inshorts, which said five accused have been arrested and that the Punjab DGP confirmed an FIR was registered. BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia, speaking in New Delhi, alleged — in remarks reported by ANI — that law and order had collapsed in Punjab under the Bhagwant Mann government; that is the BJP's allegation. Police, for their part, say the investigation is continuing and further action will follow the evidence.
