Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday, October 21, distributed 954 compassionate appointment letters to eligible candidates in the School Education Department at a programme held at Ravindra Bhawan in Bhopal, news agency ANI reported. The Chief Minister symbolically handed over appointment letters to 11 candidates at the programme and felicitated officers and employees of the department for outstanding work with commendation certificates.
Speaking to reporters after the event, Yadav said providing such a large number of appointments by a single department was an example of seriousness, promptness and sensitivity in resolving compassionate appointment cases. Compassionate appointments go to dependents of government employees who die or are incapacitated in service. He said around 300 cases were still pending and expressed confidence they would be resolved by the end of the year as promotions create vacancies in the department.
The Chief Minister announced that a fresh recruitment drive for 20,000 posts would be launched in the School Education Department, and said 15,000 appointments had already been completed in the department as part of recruitment across various government departments.
On school infrastructure, Yadav said buildings for 369 Sandipani schools had been inaugurated and 200 new Sandipani school buildings were approved on Wednesday, with the Tribal Affairs Department also set to build 200 such schools. He claimed the Congress-era budget for school education was less than Rs 400 crore, while his government has allocated Rs 38,000 crore (yaani 380 arab rupees) for the department, and said more than 1.45 lakh laptops had been distributed to students who scored above 70 per cent marks. The budget comparison is the Chief Minister's own claim, made at the event.
