Acting on specific intelligence, DRI officers intercepted a male passenger travelling by bus from Delhi to Bengaluru when the bus arrived at Bhopal ISBT. A search of his baggage found 11 plastic packets containing crystalline methamphetamine, concealed inside packets of salwar suits and carried in two mid-sized trolley bags.
Field testing confirmed the presence of methamphetamine in the recovered substance. The contraband was seized and the passenger was arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

The Finance Ministry statement placed the Bhopal seizure within a wider DRI crackdown on synthetic-drug trafficking, citing a recent seizure of 231.8 kg of meth tablets in the North-East, suspected to have been smuggled from Myanmar, and 137 kg of suspected crystal methamphetamine in Tamil Nadu, where the consignment was allegedly intended for onward smuggling to Sri Lanka by sea.
The DRI said sustained intelligence-led enforcement is aimed at dismantling narcotics trafficking networks that move dangerous synthetic drugs through inter-city transport networks, cross-border routes and coastal corridors.
