Patwari expressed sorrow over the loss of 16 lives in the accident, reports on Thursday said, and said the government should cover the entire cost of treatment for all the injured so that families do not face additional financial pressure.
He called for an impartial investigation into the incident and for accountability to be fixed on officials found responsible, questioning the adequacy of police and administrative safety arrangements. He noted that severely injured victims had to be airlifted for better treatment.

The Gwalior accident, in which a truck ran into devotees near the Sheetla Mata temple earlier this week, has already led to compensation announcements and a probe ordered by the state government. Patwari said the response should go beyond condolences and assurances, with proper medical care, meaningful financial relief and concrete steps to prevent such tragedies.
Rs 25 lakh for each bereaved family, full government-paid treatment for the injured, and an impartial probe with accountability for any lapses.
