Satna — The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Madhya Pradesh has registered two separate cases against Surendra Pratap Singh Baghel, a former in-charge manager of the Seva Cooperative Society at Amkui in Satna district, following allegations of disproportionate assets and irregularities in fertiliser distribution, according to reports published on Sunday.

Assets about 426% above known income, EOW says
According to the EOW's preliminary investigation, Baghel allegedly accumulated assets and incurred expenditure worth ₹92.16 lakh between January 2007 and September 2025, against known legitimate income of ₹17.51 lakh — an estimated excess of about 426 per cent. The disproportionate-assets case has been registered as FIR No. 110/2026.

Investigators say they have identified land documents worth ₹22.50 lakh, gold jewellery valued at ₹11.97 lakh, multiple vehicles, a residential property in the Nagod area, six bank accounts and six insurance policies. Expenses on his son's education in Delhi are also under scrutiny, the report said.

Second case over urea distribution
Separately, FIR No. 111/2026 has been registered over alleged irregularities in urea distribution. The manager is accused of charging farmers ₹600 per quintal against the prescribed rate of ₹593, and of making suspicious entries involving 122 farmers — entries the Free Press Journal described as fake farmer records in the fertiliser distribution registers.

The EOW is examining financial records and fertiliser distribution documents as part of its investigation. The allegations in both cases are yet to be proved, and neither report mentioned any arrest.
