The Khandbari–Kimathanka road in Sankhuwasabha district has resumed full service after remaining closed for three months, following restoration work led by the Nepali Army, Nepali media reported on Tuesday (October 20). The road — a vital link connecting Nepal with China through the Kimathanka border point — was blocked by a massive landslide in the Chhumsur area of Bhotkhola Rural Municipality-2.
According to reports carried by Ratopati, Nagarik News, Online Khabar, Khabarhub and other outlets, Army teams cleared the large rocks blocking the route using explosives, restoring traffic flow.
The road forms part of the North–South Koshi corridor running from Khandbari, the district headquarters, to Kimathanka on the northern border. Its reopening restores movement for residents of the Bhotkhola and Makalu areas and for the trade and supply traffic that had been cut off since the landslide.
