Kathmandu will host the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off tournament from December 4 to 21, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced on Thursday, according to the national news agency RSS.

Eight teams will take part in the tournament: the bottom four teams from the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 and the top two teams each from the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League A and Challenge League B. The Kathmandu Post also reported the CAN announcement and the tournament dates.

The top four teams in the play-off will qualify for the 2027 ODI World Cup Qualifier. Hosting the tournament gives Nepal an opportunity to reach the ODI World Cup Qualifier for the second consecutive time, reports said.

Because Nepal will host the play-off, the previously scheduled cricket series between Nepal and India A will not take place as originally planned. CAN Secretary Paras Khadka said the revised dates for the series would be finalised through mutual coordination and agreement between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and CAN.
