Patna, Oct 19: One person was killed and seven others injured after a speeding Scorpio ran over pedestrians on Atal Path in Patna in the early hours of Monday, police said. The vehicle, moving at high speed, hit people along a stretch of about 200 metres near Mahesh Nagar, in the Patliputra police station area, before it overturned.

Most of the injured are reported to be around 15 years old and were heading to a fair when the vehicle struck them. They were rushed to hospital for treatment. The body of the deceased was sent to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for post-mortem.

Gandhi Maidan Traffic Police Station SHO Brajesh Chauhan said the Scorpio had been seized and further action was under way. Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash, including the speed of the vehicle and who was driving it.
