According to the notice, Majithia's social media posts in Punjabi, English and Hindi contain false, derogatory and seriously defamatory claims, issued without any documentary or legal evidence. Ghumman calls the allegations completely baseless, false and fabricated. The underlying allegations by Majithia are allegations only and have not been established.

What the notice says

The notice states that the 'Suman Arbor Group' has no connection, direct or indirect, official or private, with any private de-addiction centre or any illegal pharmaceutical trade network operating in the state or anywhere else in the country.

It alleges the statements were published out of personal malice and political vendetta, and that Majithia deliberately launched a campaign of character assassination to tarnish Ghumman's public image and cause political damage to the government. It says Majithia tagged more than two dozen prominent national and state media houses, journalists and institutional social media accounts, giving the allegations wide reach.

Demands and warning

Ghumman has demanded that Majithia withdraw the allegations, remove the posts within 24 hours, tender a public apology and give a written assurance that such allegations will not be made in future. The notice warns that if the demands are not met, criminal proceedings and a defamation damages suit will be initiated, and holds Majithia liable to pay substantial monetary compensation for damage to Ghumman's reputation. No response from Majithia to the notice was reported at the time of these reports.
