ACP Deepak Khandelwal said the deceased, Lakshmi Regar, 38, had been living with the accused, Pradeep Kumar, for around five years. Police said they are yet to ascertain the couple's exact marital status. Kumar, a resident of Ajmer, worked as a painter, while Regar worked alongside him as a construction labourer. A police team reached the couple's rented flat in a multi-storey apartment building and found the body on the floor, with the couple's three young children beside it; a preliminary examination indicated she died on Wednesday.
