Rajasthan has added 2,40,534 eligible voters to its electoral roll in a 20-day Special Summary Revision (SSR) drive conducted from October 1 to 20 under Election Commission of India directives, Chief Electoral Officer Naveen Mahajan said on Wednesday, IANS reported.

Mahajan said the campaign placed special emphasis on registering young voters in the 18-19 age group, along with other eligible citizens who had not yet enrolled. A total of 7,78,147 applications through Form-6 were received across all age groups during the period.

Young voters led the applications

Of the applications, 4,30,701 came from the 18-19 age group, including 31,600 advance applications received up to October 1, while 3,47,446 came from people aged 20 and above. Following favourable decisions by Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), 1,39,972 voters aged 18-19 and 1,00,562 voters aged 20 and above were added — processing rates of 58% and 54% respectively. A further 3,52,778 applications will be processed after the prescribed seven-day objection period, and the remaining applications are still being processed, Mahajan said.

For the 18-19 group, the leading districts by percentage of applications were Bundi, Bharatpur, Dholpur, Karauli, Alwar, Tonk, Balotra, Churu, Kotputli-Behror and Sawai Madhopur. For voters aged 20 and above, Jaipur, Alwar, Churu, Karauli, Jodhpur, Sikar, Udaipur, Bhilwara, Pali and Banswara led by number of applications.

Eight constituencies warned over low performance

A review of the drive, based on an earlier video conference and a report dated October 20, identified eight assembly constituencies with consistently low performance — Nokha, Ramganj Mandi, Barmer, Shiv, Ghatol, Dantaramgarh, Sangod and Chhotan. Their EROs have been warned and directed to accelerate registration of young and other new voters, prioritise pending inclusion applications and review progress daily, officials said.

What is solid

  • 2,40,534 voters were added to Rajasthan's electoral roll in the October 1-20 SSR drive, including 1,39,972 aged 18-19 and 1,00,562 aged 20 and above, CEO Naveen Mahajan said (IANS; Nation Press).
  • 7,78,147 Form-6 applications were received in total, and eight constituencies — Nokha, Ramganj Mandi, Barmer, Shiv, Ghatol, Dantaramgarh, Sangod and Chhotan — were warned over low performance (IANS; Nation Press).

What is only claimed

  • No contested claim is reported in either source; the figures are the CEO's official drive statistics and remain subject to the seven-day objection period for 3,52,778 applications still to be processed.

Mahajan said eligible citizens can still apply online to have their names included in the electoral roll through the Election Commission portal at voters.eci.gov.in or the ECINET platform, and that district election officers and EROs have been told to monitor the drive and process applications promptly under the prescribed rules. The stated objective of the campaign is to ensure no eligible citizen is left out of the electoral roll.
