Mumbai, October 20 (sources: IANS; ANI via The Daily Jagran) — A new angle has emerged in the firing at actor Tiger Shroff's car in Juhu: preliminary interrogation of the arrested accused has reportedly revealed that Shroff was not their original target, and that they had initially planned to attack another prominent Bollywood personality, IANS reported on Tuesday, citing Mumbai Police sources. The identity of the first intended target has not been disclosed.

The Mumbai Crime Branch, quoted by ANI, said: "Tiger Shroff was not the shooters' original target. The three shooters were targeting a prominent Bollywood celebrity. However, the celebrity's security was so tight that the shooters were unable to target them." The Crime Branch added, according to ANI: "Later, the shooters decided to target Tiger Shroff, believing he would be an easier target, and opened fire at him instead."

According to police sources cited by IANS, the accused learned about Shroff's security arrangements through Instagram reels uploaded by his fans, which allegedly indicated that the actor did not usually have police security accompanying him, and they conducted reconnaissance by monitoring his movements through his Instagram account and fan posts. Police sources further said the accused disclosed in preliminary questioning that the attack was intended to spread fear in the Bollywood industry. Awaaz Punjab stresses that all of these are allegations from preliminary interrogation as reported by police sources; the investigation is ongoing and nothing has been proven in court.

The firing took place on Sunday evening, October 18, in Mumbai's Juhu area as Shroff was leaving a football ground. Shroff escaped unhurt, while his driver and a bystander were injured, according to IANS and Mumbai Police. A motorcycle allegedly used by the shooters was later recovered in Andheri, and the accused were arrested at Kota railway station in Rajasthan, as Awaaz Punjab has reported in its earlier coverage of this case.
