One account holder, identified as Sonu, has alleged that nearly Rs 90 lakh — yaani about Rs 0.9 crore — is missing from his account. He has claimed that bank officials offered an explanation for the missing funds and assured him the money would be restored.
Another customer, Rahul, has alleged that around Rs 51 lakh was withdrawn without authorisation from his mother's account at the branch. He said the account was not linked to a mobile number, so the family never received timely alerts about the transactions.
A third customer, Sonu Sagar, has alleged that his father's account earlier held around Rs 88 lakh, but a recent statement showed a balance of only about Rs 1,290. He has claimed the suspected embezzlement had been going on for several years, and that multiple withdrawals — including Rs 25 lakh, Rs 21 lakh, Rs 20 lakh and Rs 5 lakh — were made on June 6, 2025, along with several other transactions.
Customers say branch staff was replaced
According to the customers, after the issue came to light the bank replaced the entire staff at the branch and assured affected customers that efforts were under way to resolve the matter. One police complaint states that branch manager Nisha Tirkey informed customers on October 26 that the entire branch staff had been suspended, according to a Nav18 report.

In one complaint, an account holder has said that after spotting discrepancies he approached the bank, but was asked to return in a day or two, and on revisiting found senior officials unavailable and normal banking operations disrupted.
Affected customers have lodged complaints with the police. All the claims remain allegations at this stage: PNB has not yet issued an official statement on the allegations in the reports, and the extent of any fraud will be established only by investigation.
