Police in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, have arrested four people, including the victim's wife, after the body of a 25-year-old man was found inside a metal box dumped along a highway service lane, officials said. The victim was identified as Sonu Savita, a labourer from Achalganj who had been living with his wife Neha in a rented house in the Kanchan Nagar area under Gangaghat Kotwali police station.

Superintendent of Police Jai Prakash Singh said police traced the loader vehicle used to transport the box by examining CCTV footage from the area. Investigators found that the vehicle had travelled towards Achalganj with the box and returned without it, and its registration number led police to the vehicle's owner and driver and helped identify the suspects, according to the India Today report.
The Daily Jagran reported that the box was found on the service lane of the Unnao-Lalganj highway near Lalaukheda, about 15 km from the couple's home, and that police arrested Neha, a neighbouring tenant identified as Jitendra Singh alias Rahul, and loader owner Rajesh Gupta, and registered a murder case. Police allege — an allegation not yet tested in court — that Neha and Rahul plotted the killing; Jagran reported police as saying the two attacked Sonu at home before the body was placed in the box.

Reports differ in some details of the arrests: India Today said four people were arrested, including a person involved in disposing of the body, while Jagran named three adult accused. Awaaz Punjab is not naming any minor who may have been detained, and is treating all roles described by police as allegations until a court decides the case.
Police said Neha had allegedly hired the loader for Rs 1,200. The investigation is continuing, and the accused will be produced before a court through due process, officials said.
