LITTLE ROCK — Andre Lavon Harris, who previously received a 30-year state sentence for first-degree murder, will spend the next 180 months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm, U.S. Attorney Jonathan D. Ross for the Eastern District of Arkansas said. The sentence was handed down on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, by U.S. District Judge Lee P. Rudofsky.

A federal grand jury indicted Harris, 47, of Little Rock, on three counts — felon in possession of a firearm, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime — prosecutors said. On July 6, 2026, Harris pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. Judge Rudofsky also sentenced him to three years of supervised release, and there is no parole in the federal system, the office said.

On September 5, 2023, a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent working with a confidential source learned that Harris was a multi-ounce distributor of methamphetamine and fentanyl pills in Saline and Pulaski counties, prosecutors said. The source advised agents that Harris wore an ankle monitor, drove a black Chevrolet Tahoe, and carried a firearm. Agents confirmed Harris was a convicted felon on parole with a search waiver on file, according to the account.

On November 15, 2023, agents conducted a traffic stop on Harris to execute a parole search, prosecutors said. In his vehicle they located a loaded Taurus G3C 9mm semi-automatic firearm on the driver's-side floorboard, which Harris stated he got off “the street,” and, in the centre-console cupholder, a pill bottle containing 2.2 grams of crack cocaine, eight pills containing fentanyl, and another nine pills containing methamphetamine, according to the account.

Harris's criminal history includes felony convictions for first-degree murder on July 23, 1999, possession of firearms by certain persons, and second-degree battery, prosecutors said. The DEA investigated the case with assistance from the Little Rock Police Department, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Edward Walker prosecuted it. The DEA published the same sentencing announcement on October 22, 2026.
