The cause of the fire is under investigation, and no official finding has been made on how it started. One report said the department's arson investigators are examining the origin of the blaze, that some residents reported hearing loud explosions as the fire spread, and that vehicles parked on the other side of a fence were also damaged by heat. Fire officials have not said the fire was deliberately set.

The same report said none of the electric vehicles damaged in the fire was close to the suspected ignition area, no electric vehicles were being charged at the time, and there were no charging stations at the scene — details investigators routinely check in vehicle fires. Additional information was not immediately available, the fire department said.
