Police in Santa Ana, California, are investigating the theft of trading cards worth at least $963,000 from a FedEx truck parked outside Professional Sports Authenticator, known as PSA, which authenticates and grades trading cards, autographs, comic books and other memorabilia, the Associated Press reported.

The truck was broken into on October 13. Santa Ana Police Department spokesperson Natalie Garcia said the truck's lock was gone, two pallets were taken and a third pallet was disturbed. Pokémon and sports cards were among the items stolen. Garcia said the driver had left the truck unattended, and how long the driver was gone is part of the investigation.

“The estimated value of the stolen cards at the time of the incident was $963,000. However, the exact value of the stolen items has not yet been determined,” Garcia said in a news release. Collector Nick Andrews, near Boston, told AP the value of what was taken could be much higher.

PSA's parent company, Collectors, said it has deactivated the certificates for the stolen cards and notified marketplace partners to watch for rare and serialized items. It said it contacted affected customers directly and arranged compensation based on fair market value.

FedEx spokesperson David Westrick said the security of customers' shipments is a top priority and that FedEx is working with law enforcement, referring further questions to police. No arrests were announced in the reports.
