VACAVILLE, California — A 15-year-old boy shot outside a home in Vacaville on Halloween night is now stable and expected to survive, Vacaville police said on Sunday morning, November 1, in an update on a shooting that first left the teenager in critical condition.
Officers were called shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, to the area of Canterbury Circle and Hampton Street, where they found the teenager outside the home, in the roadway, with gunshot wounds, according to the Vacaville Police Department's account reported by local stations. He was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
By Sunday morning, police said the teenager's condition had stabilised and he was expected to survive. Police have not released his name, and Awaaz Punjab does not name or identify minor victims — his age and city are the only details reported here.
An argument at a nearby gathering
Preliminary information indicates the shooting happened following an argument at a nearby home where people were gathering, according to officials. Local reporting of the police account describes the shooting as appearing to be an isolated incident rather than part of wider criminal activity, and police have not announced any link to any other Halloween-weekend incident. What exactly was argued about, and who fired, has not been established in the information police have released.
No arrests yet — detectives asking for help
Detectives are actively investigating the shooting, police said, and the suspect or suspects remain at large according to local reporting. No arrests had been announced as of Sunday. Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Vacaville Police Department, and investigators are expected to rely on witness accounts and any video from the residential neighbourhood around Canterbury Circle and Hampton Street.
A hard Halloween weekend in Solano County
The Vacaville shooting came one night after a separate shooting inside a Spirit Halloween store at the Solano Town Center in neighbouring Fairfield, in the same county, killed a woman and wounded six other people on Friday, October 30 — an incident police there described as targeted, and with which the FBI's Sacramento field office is assisting. Police have NOT linked the Fairfield and Vacaville incidents, and the Vacaville case is being treated as an isolated dispute; the two investigations are running separately.

Vacaville police say detectives are actively investigating and ask anyone with information about the Canterbury Circle and Hampton Street shooting to contact the Vacaville Police Department.
What happens next
The next developments will come from the detectives' investigation: identifying who fired, whether any arrest follows, and further updates on the teenager's recovery. For families in Vacaville and across Solano County — a corridor along Interstate 80 between Sacramento and the Bay Area with a large commuting and trucking population — the case is a Halloween-night reminder of how quickly a house gathering can turn violent, and police say their public appeal for information is the fastest route to answers.
