A traffic stop in downtown Yuba City early on Sunday, October 18, led to the arrests of five men after police discovered three handguns, including two unserialized firearms commonly known as ghost guns, and several large-capacity ammunition magazines, the Territorial Dispatch reported on October 20, citing the Yuba City Police Department. FOX40, in a separate report published October 20, confirmed that a Yuba City officer's traffic stop of a Kia K4 on B Street, east of Plumas Street, for a vehicle code violation led to the seizure of three handguns and five arrests early on Sunday morning.

According to the Yuba City Police Department, reported by the Dispatch, the officer noticed a firearm magazine in plain view inside the vehicle during the stop. Police removed all five occupants from the car and searched for additional weapons. Officers found a loaded, concealed Ruger handgun in the possession of the front passenger; police said the firearm was not registered. A further search uncovered two Glock-style handguns without serial numbers — one beneath the right rear passenger and the other under the driver's seat — along with several large-capacity magazines, including a drum magazine.

Officers arrested all five occupants on weapons-related charges and booked them into the Sutter County Jail, the Dispatch reported. Police identified them as Erick Adrian Bermudez Garcia, 19, who faces allegations of carrying a concealed firearm, possessing an unserialized firearm and unlawfully possessing large-capacity magazines; Cesar Julian Castillo, 20, and Henry Hernandez Perez, 19, both arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm and possessing an unserialized firearm; Omar Hernandez Castro, 20, arrested on suspicion of carrying a loaded firearm in public; and Pedro Morales Sanchez, 19, arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm and an additional firearms-related violation.

Yuba City, in Sutter County, is home to one of California's largest Punjabi-American communities. The arrests are allegations, and those arrested are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
