Eighteen people, including four minors, have been arrested following a 13-month investigation into organized crime across the Denver metro area, Denver7 (KMGH) reported on October 20, citing officials with the Aurora Police Department. A second report, from KDVR FOX31, confirmed that 18 people, including juveniles, linked to organized criminal activity throughout the Denver area were arrested and 31 firearms were seized after the months-long investigation, and CBS Colorado also reported that 18 suspects were arrested in an investigation into a criminal organization operating across Colorado's Front Range.
The investigation targeted 20 members of a local criminal organization that police say was responsible for more than 20 criminal episodes affecting 13 jurisdictions, according to a police news release reported by Denver7. The affected places included the cities of Aurora, Bennett, Commerce City, Denver, Frederick, Firestone, Greeley and Parker, as well as Adams, Arapahoe, Denver, Douglas and Weld counties.
Aurora police spokesperson Joe Moylan said investigators obtained 67 search warrants and seized 31 firearms during the investigation, Denver7 reported. Arrest warrants were obtained for 18 suspects — 14 adults and four minors — on a total of 185 criminal charges, including 166 felonies and 19 misdemeanors.
All 18 suspects are in custody and are charged in Denver District Court, Moylan said. Police did not name the minors, and Awaaz Punjab does not name minor suspects. The charges are allegations, and those arrested are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
