A Boca Raton man was arrested on Thursday after allegedly leaving a death threat against U.S. Rep. Jared Moskowitz in a voicemail at the congressman's Coral Springs office, according to Moskowitz's office and the lawmaker's public statement, The Miami Focal reported on October 23.

The caller threatened to slit Moskowitz's throat, his office said. The suspect was booked into the Palm Beach County jail, according to Moskowitz. His identity has not been released, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating, The Miami Focal reported.

Moskowitz announced the arrest himself on X on Thursday, October 22. “A constituent of mine has just been arrested in Boca, just a few miles from my house, for threatening my life. He is currently in the Palm Beach County jail. I'm grateful to @fdlepio and local law enforcement for acting quickly to keep myself and my family safe,” he wrote, in a post quoted by The Floridian Press.

Dua News, reporting on October 23, said Moskowitz reported the message to law enforcement and investigators traced the call before the arrest in Boca Raton, and that the FDLE confirmed it is investigating the incident. As of that reporting, the suspect's identity had not been publicly released and details of potential criminal charges remained unavailable.

Moskowitz, a Democrat, represents Florida's 23rd Congressional District, covering parts of Broward and Palm Beach counties in South Florida. This is not the first threat case involving him: in 2024, authorities thwarted an alleged assassination plot that targeted the congressman, and John Lapinski Jr. later pleaded guilty in connection with that plot, according to prior reporting cited by The Miami Focal and The Floridian Press. Investigators in that earlier case found weapons at Lapinski's home and Moskowitz's name among the evidence.

Nothing in the reporting so far links the man arrested on Thursday to the 2024 case, and officials have not stated a motive for the alleged voicemail. The allegation has not been tested in court, and the man is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Awaaz Punjab will update this story if the FDLE or Palm Beach County authorities release his name or charges.
