A slow-moving weather system developing near the Southwest Atlantic will bring days of rainfall across Florida and the Bahamas, Fox Weather reported at 8:30 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, October 20. Some areas could see 3 to 5 inches of rain. A Level 1 out of 4 flash flood risk has been issued for Friday, while a Level 2 out of 4 risk is in effect for Saturday, according to Fox Weather.

Fox Weather said if thunderstorms become more concentrated near the centre of the system and it remains over warm water, subtropical or tropical development could become possible. Forecasters are watching the system as it takes shape offshore, rather than as a storm that has already formed.

Separately, The Miami Hurricane reported that the Florida Keys are under a National Weather Service coastal flooding advisory until Wednesday, October 21, and again from October 24 through 31, with the year's highest King Tides expected from October 24 to 31 — a period that overlaps the final weekend of Key West's Fantasy Fest, which runs October 15 to 25. The paper said the National Weather Service labelled October 25 as having a high chance of flooding in the Keys.

Residents and drivers in low-lying and coastal areas should follow National Weather Service updates, avoid driving through flooded roads, and check local advisories before travelling this weekend. Sources: Fox Weather; The Miami Hurricane (reporting National Weather Service advisories).
